What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)? What are the characteristics of Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be defined as the branch of computer science that is concerned with the automation of intelligent behavior.AI focuses on developing computer programs to solve complex problems and processes that are analogous to human reasoning process. Computer solutions for complex problems and processes are analogous to human reasoning process which exists in the form of regular conventional software exists. The human reasoning processes are distinguishing feature of AI programs. 
AI is concerned with intelligent artifacts. In turn, the intelligent behavior involves perception, reasoning, learning, communicating and acting in complex environments.
